Safety and competence
Contractors listed on this website are assessed to ensure that they are competent and capable of meeting the relevant technical and safety standards, codes of practice and rules of the schemes they are registered to.
Our Platinum Promise covers work done by NICEIC Approved contractors. Should any work be found not to comply with the Building Regulations or other relevant standard, and where the contractor is no longer in business we will have the work rectified by another contractor at no extra cost. Remember to ask the contractor for a certificate on completion of work.
The Platinum Promise applies to all other installation work less than six years old completed after January 10th 2014.
ECA Guarantee of Work Scheme
The Guarantee of Work Scheme automatically guarantees all ECA Registered Members' work, subject to terms and conditions, and removes the need for the contractor to enter into an insurance contract with customers. The guarantee is Part P and TrustMark compliant and covers completed contracts in any calendar year up to a value of £50,000 (including VAT) and £100,000 (including VAT) for multiple contracts for the same customer.
The Warranty covers work with a contract price in excess of £50,000 and to a limit in accordance with Registered Members' contract value limit, which is stated on each firm's certificate.
Subject to terms and conditions of the scheme, the ECA Bond provides customers with an assurance that if the contractor is terminated for a specified reason, such as insolvency, the additional cost of work completion will be met by the insurer to a maximum limit of £100,000 or 10 per cent of the contract value shown on the certificate.
Guarantee of Standards / Complaints procedure
We expect all registered contractors to provide a quality service to their commercial and industrial clients. If a client and contractor are unable to resolve an alleged deficiency in the technical standard of electrical work, the customer can make a formal complaint to us. We will help facilitate the negotiations between the contractor and the complainant and in certain cases can ask the contractor to rectify the work at no extra cost to the client.
